Additional Information on Enron’s use of cookies and other similar technologies

Cookie Notice

Thank you for visiting Enron Corporation (“Enron”)’s online and mobile resources and viewing this Cookie Notice (this “Notice”). This Notice explains how we use cookies and the choices you have. Our online Privacy Statement (“Privacy Statement”) applies to our processing of the data that we collect via cookies. Certain terms used in this Notice have the meaning given to them in the Privacy Statement. We explain why we use cookies further below.

This Notice was last amended as of December 2, 2024 and is effective as of that date. The English language version of this Notice is the controlling version regardless of any translation you may attempt.

What is a cookie? Why does Enron use cookies?

A “cookie” is a small text file that is placed onto your device when you access an app or a website. Cookies help websites remember information about your visit, which can both make it easier to visit the site again and make the site more useful to you. Other tracking technologies, including embedded scripts, web pixels, web tags, web storage, web beacons, and identifiers associated with your app or device operate in a similar manner to cookies and are used for similar purposes. In this Notice, we refer to all of these technologies as “cookies”.

Enron uses cookies to provide, protect, and improve our online and mobile resources. Specifically, cookies help us by storing your preferences and settings, personalizing content, serving ads, enabling you to sign-in, gathering information such as browser type and operating system, combating fraud, and analyzing use and performance of our online and mobile resources. Certain cookies share your information with third parties, including advertisers and some social networks including those with which you have created an accounted and already consented to that sharing.

Who can place cookies on your device?

When you visit our online and mobile resources for the first time, we will ask for your permission to place cookies on your device. Depending on your choices, both Enron and our trusted third parties may place cookies on your device. Cookies placed by Enron are considered ‘first-party’ cookies, whereas cookies placed by our partners or on their behalf are considered ‘third-party’ cookies.

How long do cookies stay on your device?

Cookies can be either temporary, or non-temporary as follows:

  • Session cookies are temporary and allow websites to track a user’s actions during their browser session. Session cookies are removed from your device after you leave the website you are currently visiting.
  • Persistent cookies are non-temporary and remember a user’s actions and preferences on a website, or across different websites, over time. Persistent cookies remain on a user’s device until they expire at a pre-determined time (e.g. 30 days after being downloaded), or until the user deletes them, such as by clearing browser cache.

What types of cookies does Enron use?

Cookies used on our online and mobile resources include:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — These cookies are essential for you to browse our online and mobile resources and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the site. For example, we may use strictly necessary cookies to hold your items in your cart while you are shopping online. Typically, these are first-party session and persistent cookies.
  • Preferences cookies — These cookies allow our online and mobile resources to remember choices you have made in the past, like what language you prefer, what region you are visiting from, or what your username and password are so you can automatically log in. Typically, these are first-party persistent cookies.
  • Performance (sometimes called Statistics) cookies — These cookies collect information about how you use our online and mobile resources, like which pages and links you visit and how quickly the pages and links load. Information gathered by these cookies is typically deidentified and aggregated so that it does not identify you or any specific person. Typically, these are first-party and third-party session cookies.
  • Marketing and Advertising cookies — These cookies help Enron and its advertisers show you ads, send you marketing messages, and personalize content based on your activities on other websites and social media profiles. These cookies may share your information with third parties, including advertisers and social networks. Typically, these are first-party and third-party persistent cookies. Certain types of these cookies can be used to allow advertisers to display ads to you about content you may be interested in when you are on other websites.
